PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY.

Bachelor and Doctor of Laws, and Doctor of Biological Sciences. Full Professor of Constitutional Law in the Department of Constitutional Law and History of Political Thought of the University of the Basque Country since 2000 (Hab. 2011). Coordinator of the Teaching Unit "Law and Ethics in the Biosciences", Faculty of Science and Technology (UPV/EHU).

- Bachelor of Laws from the University of Deusto (1996) and Doctor in Law from the University of the Basque Country/EHU (2004). 
-Advanced Diplomate of Physical and Health Anthropology (2010)
- Doctor in Biological Sciences (2015)

Completed her education as associate researcher at the Inter-University Chair in Law and the Human Genome (1997-2010) and with two research stays, in 1998 and 1999 at the Max Planck Institute of Freiburg of Brisgovia (Germany), and has visited the Max Planck Institute for Public Law in Heidelberg (2008) and the Freiburg--Switzerland Institute of Federalism (2009).

She has also visited the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (London, 2013) EURAC Academy of Bozen (Italy, 2014), Max Planck Institüt für Sozialrecht und Sozialpolitik (2016) and the Max Planck Institute for Public Law (2012, 2015). 

RESEARCH INTERESTS.
Her research, which has been documented in conferences and seminars participation and publications, can be classified under the following main topics:

1) MULTILEVEL CONSTITUTIONALISM. Co-editor of the Book the Ways of Federalism in Western Countries (Springer, 2013) and Claims for Secession and Federalism (Springer, forthcoming)

2) BIOETHICS AND BIOLAW.  Coauthor, among others, of the "Enciclopedia de Bioética y Bioderecho" CDGH-Comares, 2011. 

3) IDENTITY, DATA PROTECTION AND BIOMETRICS. 

4) AGRICULTURAL AND FOOD BIOTECHNOLOGIES. Author of several chapters and articles (in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese). Last work: Towards a New Regulatory Framework for GM crops in the EU, Wageningen Academic Publisher, 2017.

5) HUMAN RIGHT TO FOOD AND FOOD WASTE. Coeditor of the Books: Envisioning a Future without Food Waste and Food Poverty (Wageningen Academics, 2015) and Derecho a la alimentación y Despilfarro alimentario (Tirant lo Blanch, de proxima aparición).

Development of the report "Retos actuales de la política europea y española en la regulación de la utilización confinada y liberación intencional de OMG", assigned by the Ethics Advisory Committee on Scientific and Technical Research (Spanish Science and Technology Foundation), September, 2003.

One of the twenty members of the research project "Los controles éticos de la Actividad Biomédica", funded by the Roche Institute, as well as co-author of the monograph written as a result of this project (2009).
