The UNED has a staff made up of more than one thousand professors, who constitute a constantly growing body of Teaching and Research Staff. Their activity is concentrated in the Faculties and Schools of the different campuses in Madrid, from where they design the subject programs, the materials and necessary activities for the training of the students and the different evaluation systems, which combine the Continuous Evaluation Tests ( PECs ) that are carried out throughout the academic year with the final on-site tests, which are distributed over three calls (February, June and September). A teaching task that is complemented by a prolific research activity and results transfer, aimed at fulfilling the university’s strategic objective of giving back to society what they receive from it.

UNED professors form the teaching teams and are in permanent contact with their students through virtual courses and forums, usually asynchronously and sometimes synchronously. Students can also contact them via e-mail or telephone. In addition, the professors coordinate the activity of the supervising professors of the UNED centers, working personally with them to establish the optimal teaching and evaluation lines for each case.

The renewal and expansion of the teaching staff at UNED is constant and is carried out through public calls for applications. Once incorporated, professors must undergo the evaluation of their teaching activity according to the procedures established by the UNED derived from the Support Program for the Evaluation of Teaching Activity (DOCENTIA) of the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA). Thus, UNED guarantees the quality of its Teaching and Research Staff (PDI) while promoting their development and recognition, betting on the continuous improvement of its professors and researchers:
