MÁSTER UNIVERSITARIO EN ACCESO A LAS PROFESIONES DE ABOGACÍA Y PROCURA (PLAN 2023)

Since 2012 UNED Law Faculty has been offering two master’s degrees for the Admission to the Bar (Bar Review Program), one for barristers and another for solicitors, being the former the unique program offered in Spain. The Spanish Act 15/2021 (Access Act) and the Royal Decree 64/2023 (Regulation) changed Bar admission rules. Now the access to both legal professions is opened to Law Degree holders who follow a unique specialized course. For that reason, since the academic year 2023/2024, UNED offers a new program that mergers the contents of both.

The new program is founded on a closed collaboration between UNED and the General Council of Spanish Barristers, on the one hand, and the General Council of Spanish Solicitors, on the other hand, as article 5.4 of the Royal Decree asks, and it is offered to the whole Spanish territory as usual in this university.

The Master's Degree program includes all the necessary educational contents (orientated to provide competences, skills, and capacities) that our students, and future barristers and/or solicitors, need for completing their training, in accordance with the Access Law and its Regulation.

Teaching teams integrates academic staff and external collaborators (experienced barristers and solicitors) specialized in each specific area, as art. 12.1 of the Royal Decree requires. The program has a compulsory module of 54 credits, an external traineeship equivalent to 30 credits, and a Master dissertation of 6 credits. Subjects has been renewed and updated to tackle the contents for sitting for the bar and the specific competences included in art. 10 of the Royal Decree. There are not optional subjects (all of the are compulsory) but there are complementary seminars, conferences and meetings organized by the Law Faculty and its departments that complete curricula learning activities with cutting-edge knowledge on specific topics.

Consequently, our students received comprehensive and updated contents which, beyond the mere knowledge of statutory law, train them to carry out their future duties looking after contemporary social demands.
