Some UNED degree programmes include a professional placement module as part of their curriculum. These modules may be compulsory or optional. Placements involve spending a period of time in a public or private organisation and are designed to complement students' academic training.

The UNED Associated Centre in Pontevedra continually seeks and renews cooperation agreements with a range of organisations, providing students with different placement opportunities according to their interests.

The tutor will guide students through the process of identifying their interests and throughout their practical training, together with the supervisor at the host organisation.

During the first tutorial session for the module, the tutor will explain the procedure students must follow to apply for a placement, the module's academic calendar, the required documentation and other relevant information. Students will also be informed about the organisations with which agreements are already in place and about the procedure for arranging new agreements at their request.

It is important to attend these initial tutorial sessions, as certain placements require additional documentation, such as a certificate concerning sexual offences, particularly for degree programmes involving work with minors (Organic Law 1/1996, as amended by Law 26/2015 of 28 July). To comply with these requirements and demonstrate the absence of a relevant criminal record, a negative certificate from the Central Registry of Sexual Offenders is required (Royal Decree 1110/2015 of 11 December).

If you have not yet completed your studies, you can gain professional experience through an extracurricular placement agreement between your university and a company or organisation.

These placements are voluntary and do not form part of the degree curriculum, unlike curricular placements. Although they have similar objectives, they are not linked to any specific module and do not award academic credits, so they are not formally assessed. However, they may be included in the European Diploma Supplement as “additional information”, without associated credits.

It is worth noting that you may undertake extracurricular placements regardless of whether your degree programme includes curricular placements, provided that you meet the relevant requirements.

They may be undertaken until you obtain your degree, as they are a training activity completed prior to graduation. Placements may take place in a public or private organisation, in Spain or abroad, provided that it has a valid agreement with the University and that the placement is related to your field of study.
