Data Protection
ARCO Rights
Rapid technological development and globalisation have created new challenges for the protection of personal data. These developments require a stronger and more consistent data protection framework within the European Union in order to build the trust needed for individuals to retain control over their personal data.
The European General Data Protection Regulation of 27 April 2016 (GDPR) establishes that the principles and rules governing the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data must respect their fundamental rights and freedoms, regardless of nationality or place of residence, particularly the right to the protection of personal data.
In Spain, the Regulation was implemented through Organic Law 3/2018 of 5 December on Personal Data Protection and the Guarantee of Digital Rights.
The fundamental right to data protection is based on a set of mandatory rules governing the processing of information. These rules are designed to protect personal data itself and to limit the ways in which it may be processed. Preventive legal, organisational and technical measures are therefore established to protect information from the moment it is collected and throughout its entire life cycle.
One of the objectives of the UNED Associated Centre in Pontevedra is to guarantee this right for everyone who interacts with the Centre, including students, teaching staff, administrative and service staff and, more generally, any member of the public who has dealings with the institution.
This page provides members of the university community and the public with information on personal data protection legislation and its application at the UNED Associated Centre in Pontevedra.
To exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure or objection, please send your request to lopd@pontevedra.uned.es and follow the instructions provided in the ARCO Rights section.
