English version:
"Modeling for radiation transport simulations" develops the practical skills required by students to generate geometric models, as well as material definitions, simple radiation sources and response tallies that feed Monte Carlo transport codes. It acts as a link between theory, numerical methods and applications, enabling students to build robust, traceable and sustainable neutronic models and to begin working with radiation transport simulations using Monte Carlo codes.
English version:
No specific additional requirements are established beyond the general admission requirements for the Master's degree. However, it should be noted that the course naturally builds upon the contents of other subjects from the first semester. In particular, the course "Basics of radiation transport" will help students to understand, at a general level, the physics underlying a radiation transport code and the response functions that can be obtained with these codes (fluxes, dose, fluence, etc.). The course "Monte Carlo method for radiation transport" will, in turn, help students understand the computational method on which the Monte Carlo transport codes used in this course are based. Finally, the course "Data analysis for computational neutronics" will help students with the pre- and post-processing of the simulations carried out in this course.

English version:
The methodology used is characteristic of UNED, consisting of distance learning supported by the use of information and communication technologies. The basic bibliography is specifically designed to facilitate students' independent assimilation of the course contents.
Continuous monitoring and assessment activities will be carried out through the Continuous Assessment Tests (PEC) remotely. They are designed with sufficient scope and depth to ensure and monitor the progressive assimilation of the contents. They are compulsory.
The course also has a strong practical component, with computational laboratory exercises that are highly relevant in terms of both duration and their weighting in the final assessment of the course. These practical exercises allow students to apply the concepts assimilated through the study of the theoretical material and the PECs to solve real-world problems, whether methodological or related to actual analysis.
Furthermore, the individual on-site examination will be an indicator of the overall level of assimilation achieved by the student at the end of the course learning period.
The student's individual and continuous work is essential to the learning process, with the assimilation of new concepts being fundamental.

They also seek that the student develops a critical judgment regarding the use of software and the results obtained. The aim is to promote student autonomy in the field of computational neutronics.

- First, a synchronous session (via Teams or Zoom) will be organized in which teachers will distribute documentation, explain the objective of the practice, and assist students in the installation of the required software and the corresponding verifications. This is known as the virtual lab establishment. It will be recorded for those who cannot attend.
- The student, on their own, will solve the computational practices with the corresponding software and following the instructions of the teachers. During this period, teachers are available, in addition to the usual channels (forums, email, telephone), in the format of online tutoring.
- After a period, another synchronous online session will be organized in which students will present the results obtained and explain the problems they have encountered. Teachers will ask questions and ask students to execute the problems by varying input parameters and obtain online results to check the assimilation of concepts and the skill acquired in the corresponding software. It will also be recorded.
Prior to the computational practices, students will receive via email all the necessary information about them: schedules, activities, necessary material. That same information will appear in the virtual course of the subject.
The computational practices will be carried out throughout the course. The last session, of correction, will be organized both in January and September.
