PhD in Political Science from UNED, where he is also Assistant Professor in Political Science. Previously, he has been Research Associate at the City University of London (2016-2017) and Research Fellow at the School of International Studies of the Sun Yat-sen University (Guangdong, China). He holds a degree in History from the University of Zaragoza, a Master-Diploma in Political and Constitutional Studies from the Centre for Political and Constitutional Studies (CEPC), and an MPhil in Political Science within the PhD programme “Political Processes in Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union”, UNED

Research activity

Ruiz Ramas has been a visiting researcher at the Institute for Latin American Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences (Russian Federation, 2006), University of Warwick (United Kingdom, 2007), Donetsk State Management University (Ukraine, 2008), American University of Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, 2009, 2011), Kiev Mohyla Academy (Ukraine, 2011, 2015).

Ruiz Ramas’s research about the post-Soviet space is focused on the study of state-building, political regimes, revolutionary situations, political instability, transnational organized crime, the persistence of informal institutions, and the theoretical debate on the new international order.
