Research activity
His work connects social and labour history with political and economic thought in colonial and post-colonial Africa. His research lines cover decolonization processes and new authoritarian populisms, as well as the intellectual history of the social sciences and the theory of money. He is co-director of the Society for Ethnographic Theory (UCL).
Professional experience
Juan de la Cierva-Incorporación Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of History, Theories and Political Geography, Complutense University of Madrid (2021-2024), funded by the Spanish State Research Agency. Previously, he was Junior Fellow at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS), University of Freiburg (2021), within the Balzan Project in Global History directed by Jürgen Osterhammel. He also held a Juan de la Cierva-Formación fellowship (2018-2020) at the UCM and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Modern Indian Studies, University of Göttingen (2017), as part of the "A Global Network for Global History" research group. Additionally, he has been a Guest Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle, at the Institute of African Studies, University of Leipzig, and the Department of Economic and Social History, University of Vienna.
