Academic Information
Margarida Martins Barroso holds a PhD in Sociology, awarded by the
ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon (2013). She has a post-graduation in Data
Analysis for Social Sciences (2009), and a BA in Sociology by the same university
(2006).
Research activity
Her research interests include intersectionality, gender, families, migration, education, work-life balance, and the various dimensions of quality of life and well-being. She has participated in several international projects and research networks funded by the European Union’s HORIZON2020 programme, the EU’s Sixth Framework Programme, the European Economic Area, and the COST Association.
Professional experience
She is currently a César Nombela Research Fellow in the Department of Sociology II – Social Structure at the UNED, where she conducts research on intersectional inequalities and quality of life in contemporary societies. Previously, she was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie researcher at the Autonomous University of Madrid, working on the GEMILI project – Gender, Migration, and Illiteracy, and a postdoctoral researcher at ISCTE-IUL, working on the project The promotion of quality of life in contemporary societies. She has been a visiting researcher at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) and the University of Gothenburg (Gothenburg), and a graduate fellow at EUROFOUND (Dublin).
