Ph.D. degree in software engineering and computer systems from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), in 2007. M.Sc. degree in computer science from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain, 2000.

Research activity

His primary research lines are: (i) software product line engineering, (ii) technology applied to online teaching, and (iii) bibliometrics.

Summary:

- Two research six-year periods granted

- Author of 43 relevant papers (according to ANECA criteria). 34 of them published in JCR impacted journals (23 Q1, 6 Q2, 1 Q3 y 4 Q4), and 9 in conferences ranked in GII-GRIN-SCIE (1 Class 1 y 8 Class 2). One of his conference papers won the best paper award in SPLC'2021.

- Author of 5 chapters in research books.

- Principal investigator of the Software Engineering and Systems Group (http://www.issi.uned.es/giss).

- Participant in 12 research projects, 6 funded by the Spanish Ministry, 4 funded by UNED, 1 by the  Comunidad de Madrid, and 1 by the Santander Bank. He has been the principal investigator of 3 of those projects.

- Author of open-source projects, including libraries for software product line development (Exemplar Flexibilization Language, BDDSampler, Kconfig2Logic, etc.) and Moodle plugins for virtual and remote labs' management (his EJSApp plugin suite won the Moodle Reviewer's Choice Award).

- 5 postdoctoral research stays abroad in the University of Universidades, the Software Engineering Institute in Carnegie Mellon, and Johannes Kepler University (three times).
