Academic Information

Jennifer Lertola holds a degree in English and Spanish Language and Literature from the Università degli Studi di Genova (2008), a DITALS Master's degree from the Università per Stranieri di Siena (2009) and a PhD (with European Doctorate) in Applied Linguistics from the National University of Ireland, Galway (2014). She also holds a Master's Degree in English and Spanish Language and Literature from the Università del Piemonte Orientale (2018) and a Master's Degree in Teacher Training for Compulsory Secondary Education, Vocational Training and Language Teaching from the Universidad Nebrija (2020).

Research activity

Her main research topic is Didactic Audiovisual Translation. She is the author of several papers on audiovisual translation in language learning. She is a member of the international research group TRADIT (Didactic Audiovisual Translation), which has developed the research project I+D+i TRADILEX (Audiovisual Translation as a Didactic Resource in Foreign Language Education, PID2019-107362GAI00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033) during between 2020-2023 and of the teaching innovation group (GID) ARENA (accessibility, audiovisual translation and language learning) both based at the UNED. She has also participated in the European Project ClipFlair (Foreign Language Learning through Interactive Revoicing and Captioning of Clips, 519085-LLP-1-2011-1-ES-KA2-KA2MP) between 2011-2014.

  • ARENA, Accesibilidad, tRaducción audiovisual y aprEndizaje de leNguAs Grupo de Innovación Docente (GID) de la UNED.  Objetivos: (1) Comprobar la viabilidad de incluir una metodología que integre la traducción audiovisual como recurso didáctico en las asignaturas relativas al aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras, para mejorar el nivel de competencia comunicativa, especialmente en lo que respecta a su vertiente oral. (2) Evaluar la posibilidad de promoción de la accesibilidad audiovisual a través de subtitulación social en el marco de la universidad a largo plazo. (3) Conseguir un mayor nivel de conocimiento y utilización eficiente de la lengua inglesa en nuestra sociedad que influya de modo directo en la generación de conocimiento y pueda contribuir a incrementar el liderazgo científico del país.

  • TRADISUB (subtitulado para sordos interlingüístico para mejorar destrezas de expresión escrita y de traducción general) El proyecto TRADISUB es un estudio de investigación llevado a cabo en la UNED que utiliza el subtitulado como recurso didáctico para enseñar el idioma inglés a estudiantes y para desarrollar sus competencias lingüísticas de forma integrada.
