• PhD in Genetics and Cell Biology (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, 2013).
• Master in Toxicology (Universidad de Sevilla, 2006).
• Degree in Biology (Universidad SEK de Segovia, 2002).

• 2017 – present: Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science UNED.
• 2014 – 2017: Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Science UNED.
• 2009 – 2014: Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Science UNED.

Research activity

My current research focuses on the study of toxic and genotoxic effects of environmental stressors (e.g. pollutants) in invertebrates by analysing cellular/physiological/developmental/reproductive parameters, metabolic pathways of detoxification and adaptation, and the transcriptional activity of biomarker genes involved in hormone signalling, cell stress response and metabolism, protein synthesis, and DNA damage/repair.

Professional experience

• 2009 – present: Different teaching positions at the Faculty of Science UNED.
• 2007 – 2009: Predoctoral researcher at the Biology Department of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM).
• 2003 – 2006: Predoctoral researcher at the Centre for Environmental Sciences (since 2011, Institute of Agricultural Sciences) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

Educational management experience

Academic Secretary of the Master's Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention: Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics and Applied Psychosociology. Since December 2021.
