Academic Information
.
Lola Llorente Ortega is graduated in Biology by Autonomous University of Madrid and with a MSc in Genetic Manipulation and Molecular Cell Biology (University of Sussex, UK). Due to my interest in Genetics, the last year of the Biology Degree was focused on the specialization in this area and I developed my final degree project at the Institute of Medical and Molecular Genetics (INGEMM), Hospital La Paz. The work was based on the use of molecular techniques such as sequencing and comparative analysis in order to confirm or refute previous clinical diagnoses of patients apparently affected by a a overgrowth syndrome.
My interest related to genetic manipulation led me to take a master's degree in Genetic Manipulation and Molecular Cell Biology at the University of Sussex (Brighton, UK) in 2017. The final master's thesis was developed at the “Genome Damage and Stability Center” and it was based on the study of the correlation between the formation of R-loops and genomic instability.
Since my research interest is related to Molecular Genetics, currently I am developing my 3rd year of doctoral thesis in the Biology and Environmental Toxicology group at National Distance Education University (UNED). The main purpose of my research line is the analysis of the effect of emerging pollutants, in model and non-model species, through molecular and cellular biomarkers.
