RESEARCH PROJECTS
- Numerical characterization of coastal seabed environments using hydroacoustic data-driven techniques (NumSeaHy) Project in development since 2022, funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation (Ecological transition and digital transition projects), in collaboration with researchers from 3 Spanish universities, focused on the development of numerical tools to monitor the physical nature of the seafloor from a quantitative perspective, quantifying the uncertainty of predictions from data-driven (i.e. non parametric) techniques. PI: Andrés Prieto Aneiros (U. da Coruña).
- Artificial Intelligence for Non-invasive Hemodynamics Project developed from 2021 to 2023, financed by the Spanish Ministery of Science, Innovation and Universities, in colaboration with other researchers from 11 Spanish universities and hospitals with the goal of creating a deep learning tool capable of complementing the hemodynamical data of a patient drastically reducing the need for invasive catheterism interventions required for cardiologic diagnosis. - Personalized embolic risk assessment through the analysis of intracardiac flow Synergistic project developed between 2019-2021, financed by the Autonomous Comunity of Madrid (Spain), collaborating with the Gregorio Marañón General Hospital (Madrid, Spain; HGGUM belongs to CIBER-CV) and the Carlos III University of Madrid (UNED was an associate partner), with the objective of establishing a methodology for the assessment of embolic risk from non invasive (Doppler ultrasound) cardiac flow measurements. - Ecological footprint of bottom trawling in the Atlantic Patagonian shelf: quantification of disturbance and expected impacts on seabed habitats and communities Project in development since 2017, financed by the National Agency for the Scientific and Technological Promotion (Argentine, PICT project), in colaboration with researchers from CESIMAR-CENPAT, with the objective of using different quantitative tools (in particular, underwater acoustic methods) to assess the effects of trawling fisheries on the benthic coastal communities of Argentine Patagonia.
