Research activity
My main research focus is on sedimentology and marine geology. My recent investigations have concentrated on characterizing incised valleys and transgressive deposits formed during the Late Quaternary, particularly on the continental shelf of the Gulf of Cádiz.
I have participated in several significant research projects, including my current collaboration on SANIMED (Sediment Gravity Flows and Anthropogenic Impacts in a Mediterranean Deltaic-and-Canyon Environment: Causal Relationships and Consequences), as well as my earlier work on the ALSSOMAR project (Alboran Shelf-Slope Coupling Processes and Deep Sediment Transfer: Source to Sink Approaches and Implications for Biodiversity).
Professional experience
Currently, I serve as an Adjunct Professor at the National Distance Education University (UNED), where I teach Geology in the Chemistry program, as well as Geology I and Geological Resources in the Environmental Sciences program.
Previously, I held a position as a Pre-Doctoral Researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), where I worked on projects related to marine geology and sedimentology from 2017 to 2022. I also worked as a Hydrogeology Technician at the University of Granada in the Department of Geodynamics, providing technical support in hydrogeological studies.
I have also contributed as a Guest Lecturer at the University of Granada, teaching courses such as Physical Environment in the Biology program and Geological Cartography I in the Geology program, allowing me to support training in key areas of applied geology.
